Professionals trained on Climate Change and WASH in Emergency

The professionals working in WASH sector learned the recent impacts of Climate Change in WASH sector of Bangladesh particularly on Emergency context through a joint course of ITN-BUET and WASH Cluster Bangladesh. The training on “Climate Change and WASH in Emergency” held during 11-12, March 2020 at ITN-BUET Seminar room, BUET, Dhaka. A team of eight members from ITN-BUET visited MAWTS on 7 March 2020 at their Mirpur premise aiming to share knowledge, ideas and find collaboration opportunities on fecal sludge desludging and transportation options. With the motto of engaging private sector for promoting sustainable FSM system, Bangladesh FSM Network organized the Fourth FSM Convention and Fourth Emptiers Convention during February 5-6, 2020 at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Auditorium, Dhaka. Fecal sludge management has been identified as one of the most crucial challenges for ensuring safe sanitation in Bangladesh. The government is committed to reach the SDG 6.2 sanitation target by 2030. Without achieving safely managed sanitation this goal will not be achieved. In line with the initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission, Odisha, a state of India has become one of the pioneers to successfully run the FSM service chain throughout the state. To learn about the technical and management aspects of fecal sludge management a team of 24 delegates from Bangladesh visited Odisha during 2-6 December 2019.
