SUMMARY:Integrity and Regulation in Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS)
DESCRIPTION:About the Training\nThe online course ‘Integrity and Regulation in Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS)’ addresses important issues in sanitation services\, focusing on integrity\, regulatory frameworks\, and social inclusion. The course is a collaborative effort among the Water Integrity Network (WIN)\, ITN-BUET\, and ESAWAS. Sanitation plays a vital role in safeguarding public health and ensuring environmental sustainability\, yet many regions struggle to provide equitable and effective services. These challenges are often compounded by integrity risks\, regulatory gaps\, and social inequalities. This course is designed to help participants navigate these complexities by introducing key concepts such as Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS)\, integrity in regulation\, and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). Participants will gain valuable insights into how governance\, ethics\, and inclusive strategies can improve sanitation services\, reduce risks\, and ensure equitable access for all. \nObjectives\nBy the end of the course\, participants will have a clear understanding of how integrity supports the implementation of CWIS projects and how robust regulatory frameworks can ensure inclusive\, equitable sanitation\, fulfilling the human right to sanitation. The major objectives of the course are as follows: \n\nUnderstand the basic concepts of integrity\, regulation\, and CWIS\nAnalyze how integrity helps to achieve better regulation in CWIS programs\nEquip sanitation professionals to better understand and respond to integrity risks along the sanitation value chain\nExamine how transparency\, accountability\, participation\, and anti-corruption play out in practice through case studies from different parts of the world.\n\nContents and Course Structure\nThis course is organized into four modules\, each offering a comprehensive learning experience through a blend of mandatory readings\, supplementary resources\, and interactive activities. The content includes videos\, animations\, presentations\, readings\, and case study documentation to enhance understanding. Participants are encouraged to engage actively by sharing their experiences\, asking questions\, and participating in vibrant forum discussions for each module. \nCourse Module\nThe course is structured as follows: \n\nModule 1: Basic Concepts – Integrity and CWIS Introduction to key principles of Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) and the role of integrity in ensuring effective\, transparent\, and equitable sanitation services.\nModule 2: Regulation in CWIS– Exploration of regulatory frameworks that support the implementation of CWIS\, with a focus on ensuring accountability\, transparency\, and inclusive practices.\nModule 3: Integrity Risks Along the Sanitation Value Chain– Examination of potential integrity risks throughout the sanitation value chain\, with guidance on identifying and mitigating these risks to improve governance and service delivery.\nModule 4: Strengthening Integrity– Strategies for enhancing integrity within sanitation systems\, including the use of integrity mechanisms to foster ethical practices\, strengthen governance\, and promote social inclusion.\n\nTo progress through the course\, participants need to complete quizzes or respond to multiple-choice questions at the end of each module. Successful completion of these assessments is required to move forward to the next module. \nWho Should Attend?\nThis course is specifically designed for professionals working in the WASH sector\, having formal or informal roles in regulatory functions related to sanitation\, public health\, and the environment. Additionally\, the course will be beneficial for decision-makers\, city leaders\, government officials\, academics\, practitioners\, researchers\, and others in related fields. \nParticipation Details\nParticipants will have to apply through the registration link by either clicking on the link or scanning the QR code. The course is offered to a maximum of 50 concurrent participants in each round. Seats are usually filled on a first-come\, first-served basis; however\, there may be a screening process to identify deserving candidates. Upon approval\, registered candidates must complete the course by 15 February 2025. If a participant fails to complete the course within the given time frame or does not log in to the online system for 30 consecutive days\, their registration will be cancelled. \nCourse Approval Criteria and Certificate\nAs a self-paced course\, participants are welcome to cover the contents modules according to their own timing. The average time required to complete the course is approximately 20 hours\, with a total time commitment of 3- 4 weeks. Answering quizzes/ multiple-choice questions at the end of each module is a condition to move on to the next module\, completing the course\, and receiving a course certificate. Participants will have three chances to obtain at least 60% correct responses\, and in all cases the platform will indicate the wrong answers. \nCertificate\nAfter completing the 4 modules\, participants are invited to answer a short feedback survey of the course. Once this survey is answered\, participants may download their certificate.Participation in the course\, as well as the download of the certificate\, has no cost for the participants. \nApplication Deadline:\n10 November 2024 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n View Flyer\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Apply Now
