SUMMARY:Workshop on Sector Development Plan (SDP) 2026-2040 for WASH
DESCRIPTION:Local Government Division (LGD)\, Ministry of LGRD&C\, has initiated the development of a new Sector Development Plan (SDP) for WASH in Bangladesh\, spanning from 2026 to 2040. ITN-BUET\, in collaboration with UNICEF\, is providing technical assistance for the preparation of this new SDP. An inception workshop took place on September 4\, 2023\, at ITN-BUET\, during which sector stakeholders shared their thoughts and ideas on the draft outline of the SDP. To advance this task\, rigorous consultations with sector stakeholders on the strategic directions\, guidelines\, and actions for drafting the content of SDP 2026-2040 for WASH are imperative. \nIn this regard\, a half-day Consultation Workshop is scheduled from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday\, October 11\, 2023\, at the ITN-BUET Seminar Room (5th Floor\, ARI-ITN Building\, BUET). The purpose of this workshop is to brainstorm and identify requirements for the SDP. \nDiscussion areas: \n\nExpanding access to safe and affordable drinking water and sanitation facilities.\nImproving hygiene promotion.\nAdvancing towards safely managed sanitation facilities.\nEstablishing a Fecal Sludge Management System (FSM).\nPrioritizing Arsenic Mitigation.

ITN-BUET\, in collaboration with UNICEF\, is providing technical assistance for the preparation of this new SDP. \nAn inception workshop was conducted on September 4\, 2023\, at ITN-BUET\, during which sector stakeholders shared their insights and ideas concerning the draft outline of the SDP. To further progress in this endeavor\, the first Consultation Workshop\, focusing on the thematic area of increasing coverage and promoting quality\, was held on October 11\, 2023\, at ITN-BUET. During this workshop\, sector stakeholders engaged in brainstorming sessions\, provided strategic directions\, guidelines\, and identified actions for drafting the content of the SDP 2026-2040 for WASH. \nThe 2nd Consultation Workshop is scheduled to take place on October 18\, 2023 (Wednesday). This half-day workshop\, running from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm\, will be hosted in the ITN-BUET Seminar Room\, situated on the 5th Floor of the ARI-ITN Building at BUET.
