The training was organized in association with Dhaka WASA, with support from GIZ Bangladesh, from 18 to 22 April 2026 at Heritage Resort. The training aimed to strengthen institutional capacity for developing and implementing climate-resilient water safety plans to protect Haria Intake of Saidabad Water Treatment Plant Phase-III, ensuring safe and sustainable water supply systems in Dhaka.<\/p>\n<p>The inauguration session was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Project Director of Saidabad Water Treatment Plant Phase-III Project. Mr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman emphasized the importance of Water Safety Plans in ensuring safe and climate-resilient water supply systems for Dhaka. He highlighted the ongoing shift towards surface water sources under major initiatives such as the Saidabad Phase-III project, stressing the need for integrated approaches to address emerging challenges in the water sector. Facilitators from ITN-BUET guided practical exercises, complemented by a field visit to the Haria intake and surrounding canal systems, where participants observed key pollution sources such as wastewater discharge, industrial effluents, and solid waste dumping.<\/p>\n<p>The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Rowshan Mamtaz, Director of ITN-BUET, along with Mr. Mohammad Solaiman Haider from DoE, Mr. Richard Below from GIZ Bangladesh, and Mr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman from DWASA. Prof. Dr. Rowshan Mamtaz emphasized the importance of engaging industries in protecting the Meghna River ecosystem and highlighted the need for strengthened implementation capacity and actionable planning for ensuring water safety. Mr. Md.
