UPM GmBH and its local partner Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) handed over field laboratory facilities used by them to characterize the fecal sludge in Rohingya camps Cox\u2019s Bazar to DPHE following the hands-on training on the operation of the equipment and sampling.<\/p>\n
The newly recruited DPHE personnel for the Cox\u2019s Bazar DPHE FSM Laboratory were introduced to fecal sludge testing, parameters, equipment and sampling procedures through a 3-day training at DPHE Sadar Upazila Office, Cox\u2019s Bazar. UPM GmBH and BAU organized this training during 2-5 October 2021 in collaboration with ITN-BUET with the support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) funded project.<\/p>\n

A total of 16 participants participated in this 3-day training. The majority of the participants were from the DPHE, Cox\u2019s Bazar, including the Manager, Technicians and sample collectors of FSM Laboratory, Jr. Chemist water quality Laboratory and Sub-Assistant Engineer and Mechanics of Sadar Upazila of DPHE, Cox\u2019s Bazar. Apart from these, 3 participants from ITN-BUET and 1 from NGO Forum for Public Health local office participated in this training.\u00a0 Ms. Nusrat Jahan Purva and Dr. G.N.M Ilias, on behalf of UPM \u00a0were the lead trainers of this hands-on training. Professor Dr. Humayon Kabir, BAU supervised the training program. Mr. Roman Ryndin of UPM provided remote support.<\/p>\n
Engr. Ritthick Chowdhury, Executive Engineer, DPHE, Cox\u2019s Bazar inaugurated the training program. Professor Dr. Humayon Kabir, BAU, on behalf of UPM, handed over the UPM fecal sludge laboratory facilities to DPHE Cox\u2019s Bazar FSM Laboratory focal person.
