A partnership agreement was formalized between the International Training Network Centre of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (ITN-BUET) and Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) to strengthen Bangladesh’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector on December 4, 2024. Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Director, ITN-BUET and Dr. Dibalok Singha, Executive Director, DSK signed the agreement on behalf of the respective organizations.<\/p>\n
The Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA), signed on December 4, 2024, focuses on collaborative efforts to enhance joint research, capacity building, and knowledge sharing activities. Under this agreement, ITN-BUET will offer its academic expertise, conduct workshops, and provide technical support to DSK\u2019s research projects. DSK, a recognized NGO in the sector, will provide field access for research and support in their study areas across Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

The collaboration covers three main areas: improving WASH infrastructure, facilitating cross-learning between the two organizations, and conducting joint research to support policy development and program design. The three years partnership also includes the preparation and submission of project proposals for both donor-funded and internally funded projects. Other representatives from both organizations to attend the signing ceremony are Mr. Alauddin Ahmed, Project Manager, ITN-BUET; Dr. Asef Mohammad Redwan, Technology & Knowledge Management Specialist, ITN-BUET; Md. Abdul Hakim, Director WASH, DSK and Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Head of Research, DSK.<\/p>\n
By combining ITN-BUET\u2019s academic research and training capabilities with DSK\u2019s field experience and community-based approach, the two organizations hope to create innovative solutions, build institutional capacity, and set new standards for WASH practices across the country. This agreement marks an important step toward fulfilling the global goals for clean water and sanitation, as outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6, which calls for clean water and sanitation for all.<\/p>\n
