There is a significant knowledge gap among sanitation and waste workers in Asia and the Pacific region, leading to challenges in health, safety, and hygiene practices that affect their well-being and dignity. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has assigned the International Training Network (ITN) of Bangladesh University and Engineering and Technology (BUET) to address this issue by enhancing the capacity of sanitation and waste workers through a training programs. The goal is to improve their knowledge on disease prevention, basic hygiene practices, the use of personal protective equipment, and proper management of human waste or sewage.<\/p>\n

The objective of this project is to guide and train sanitation and waste workers in delivering their services more effectively by enhancing their skills and knowledge related to occupational health and safety.
The specific objectives are as follows:
\u2022 Build the capacity of sanitation and waste workers and their supervisors on occupational health and safety practices.
\u2022 Increase awareness of the implications of occupational health and safety on infection prevention and control.
\u2022 Promote stronger, efficient, and dignified participation of sanitation and waste workers in the service chain.<\/p>\n
