ITN-BUET explores nature-based solution to treat septic tank sludge

Prof. Dr. Tanveer Ferdous Saeed, Professor of Department of Civil Engineering, University of Asia Pacific led this research as Principal Investigator. The research found high treatment efficiency for removal of pollutants from septic tank sludge with significant bio-energy production which enhanced the treatment capacity of “Constructed Wetlands” system.

Prof. Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Director, ITN-BUET shared the current research initiatives at ITN-BUET on diversified areas of sanitation, FSM, waste management under current BMGF grants on scaling CWIS and sanitation innovation.

Dignitaries’ guests and sector experts, including Prof. Dr. M. Feroze Ahmed (Professor Emeritus of Stamford University), Dr. Md. Mafizur Rahman (Professor, BUET), Engr. Md. Wali Ulla (Former Chief Engineer, DPHE), and other invitees provided their valuable insights and directives in discussion session. They all appreciated research initiatives undertaken by ITN-BUET, which is now being acknowledged nationally and internationally.
