Professor Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Director of ITN-BUET, and Mr. Dewan Kamal Ahmed, President of Municipal Association of Bangladesh- MAB and Mayor, Nilphamari Municipality, signed a milestone agreement on June 14, 2022, to collaborate on the advancement of citywide inclusive sanitation.
ITN-BUET and MAB signed the strategic partnership agreement to promote the CWIS approach in the urban sanitation initiatives in Bangladesh by adopting and mainstreaming the learning from each other’s existing programs.
Among other initiatives, the organizations will collaborate to promote women-leadership in municipalities and encourage media involvement for awareness-raising on safely managed sanitation for all. MAB will play a key role in bridging national and city-level policy and decision-makers for sustaining sanitation interventions in the urban sector. ITN-BUET will utilize its expertise to build the capacity of the MAB representatives and associated stakeholders to foster CWIS across the country and beyond.
Mr. Md. Khaled Hossain Yead, Secretary-General of MAB and Mayor, Madaripur Municipality, and Dr. Abdullah Al Muyeed, CEO, CWIS-FSM Support Cell, DPHE, witnessed the partnership signing. Mr. Parimal Kumar Dev, Chief Operating Officer, MAB, Mr. Alauddin Ahmed, Project Manager, ITN-BUET, and Ms. Yasmin Sultana, Panel Mayor, Narsingdi, Ms. Makfie Farah, Knowledge Management Specialist, ITN-BUET, Mr. Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury, Project Manager, UCLG-ASPAC MuNASS II Project and Mr. S M Abdur Rauf, Admin and Finance Manager, BMGF Project, MAB were present at the signing ceremony.
