To analyze the then existing situation and practices of sanitation, this research project aimed at investigating the strategies and appropriate technologies suitable for high-water table and flood-prone areas of Bangladesh, particularly in three project areas – Dhaka, Patuakhali and Sylhet. The study recommended low-cost and sustainable remedial options of sanitation to improve the situations. The project works included selection of project area; field survey for technical and socioeconomic data collection; interview of key informants; local community level participatory workshop to know how to deal with sanitation problems and group discussion for exploring grass root level knowledge/ information.
