The objectives of this project were to assess the present situation of research conducted on the water supply and sanitation (WSS) sector in Bangladesh. This aim was achieved by reviewing and analyzing research and development-oriented activities in the sector focusing on access and use of the facility; technological and social interventions; beneficiary participation, especially involvement of women. This project developed an overview of the WSS sector in Bangladesh and prepared a summary of documented research and study reports. The policies, strategies, major issues, organizations and development partners in the WSS sector were also identified.
