Professor Dr. Rowshan Mamtaz has taken charge as the Director of the International Training Network at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (ITN-BUET), marking a historic milestone for the institution.
A pioneering figure in academia and environmental research, Dr. Mamtaz is BUETβs first female professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and the first woman to lead ITN-BUET. Her distinguished career includes serving as Director of the Center for Environmental Resource Management (CERM) and as Provost of BUET Chattri Hall, where she earned widespread recognition for her exemplary leadership and contributions to academia and research.
Dr. Mamtaz succeeds Professor Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, who served as Director of ITN-BUET from June 2020 to December 2024. The handover was formalized during a brief ceremony on December 30, 2024, at the ITN-BUET office. In his farewell address, Dr. Ahmed expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the center and praised the ITN-BUET team for their professionalism and dedication, describing his tenure as both fulfilling and enriching.
