“SanMark-CITY” project aims to explore the potential of four toilet technologies to overcome some of the challenges faced in delivering a sustainable sanitation solution. The toilet technologies include: (a) Tiger Toilet; (b) Enbiolet; (c) Biofil Toilet System; and (d) Sun-Mar Composting Toilet. ICCO Cooperation along with two other implementing partners – International Development Enterprises (iDE) and Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) – are implementing the project. The project takes a market-led approach, and focuses on the role of the private sector to develop commercial ventures which are sustainable and scalable as the implementation vehicles. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is providing financial and technical support to the project. International Training Network Center of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (ITN-BUET) is providing technical support to the project. The primary task of ITN-BUET is to independently validate the toilet technologies from the perspective of technical performance. In addition, the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) is also providing technical advice and facilitating possible linkages with relevant national projects.
