The objective of the program was to develop an improved human resource base for the promotion and wider application of appropriate, affordable, and sustainable low-cost water supply and sanitation for low-income groups. The program also intended to strengthen the local capacity for training, information dissemination, and applied research & demonstration activities.

  • The ITN Centre at BUET and Sub-centers at 8 leading technical institutions within the country were established.
  • The Civil Engineering course curricula for Undergraduate and Diploma in the country were reoriented and updated, which is in practice now.
  • A text book for the Civil Engineering Undergraduate course was published, which is taught in all public and private universities in the country, WEDC in the UK and some developing countries.
  • A total of 2352 professionals and decision makers were trained on WSS
  • ITN Centre, BUET has successfully flourished as a capacity building and resource center in the WSS sector
