The Global Sanitation Graduate School Regional Hub South and Southeast Asia (GSGS RH SSEA) is pleased to recognize outstanding faculty members who have made exceptional contributions to the field of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) through excellence in teaching, research, student mentoring, curriculum development, and demonstrated impact. The GSGS RH SSEA Faculty Excellence Award 2026 will be presented to a current faculty member from one of the GSGS RH SSEA partner institutions whose contributions have significantly strengthened the GSGS program through teaching, curriculum development, research, and capacity development.
Evaluation Criteria
The award will be evaluated primarily on the quality, significance, and impact of the faculty member’s contributions to the GSGS program. Contributions may include, but are not limited to:
- Development and enhancement of the GSGS curriculum.
- Promotion of the GSGS program within their institution or region.
- Organization and delivery of GSGS-related training programs, specialized courses, or short courses.
- Teaching excellence within the GSGS program.
- Supervision and mentoring of postgraduate students.
- Research conducted under the GSGS program that has resulted in peer-reviewed publications, uptake by government agencies, NGOs, or other organizations for piloting or field demonstration, contributions to policy development at the national or international level, or other measurable impacts that advance the WASH sector.
Eligibility
- Be a current faculty member at a GSGS RH SSEA partner institution.
- Be actively engaged in teaching within the GSGS program.
- Be involved in mentoring or supervising postgraduate students associated with the GSGS program.

Award
The selected awardee will receive:
- An official Certificate of Excellence; and
- A travel scholarship to participate in the IWA Global Sanitation Summit 2027 in Cape Town, South Africa (https://www.iwa-network.org/events/iwa-global-sanitation-summit-2027)
