ITN-BUET has been leading the national-level capacity building program on FSM and CWIS in collaboration with DPHE and relevant sector partners with financial support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It aims to accelerate and spread the capacity-building activities at the national and regional levels in the coming years. As the core partner, CWIS-FSM Support Cell, DPHE and TA Hub are incredibly vital actors for the successful implementation of this endeavor.

Attempt to identify capacity building needs on FSM and CWIS

Speakers encouraged the integrated effort to scale up the national level capacity building program on CWIS and FSM in a workshop held on 14 December 2020 at Sarah Resort, Gazipur. The Brainstorming Workshop to Materialize Capacity Building Initiatives on FSM and CWIS in Bangladesh intended to identify the future capacity building need and scope for collaboration amongst CWIS-FSM Support Cell, ITN-BUET, 61 Towns Project of DPHE and TA-Hub.

Prof. Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Director, ITN-BUET, in his welcome note, discussed the future vision of ITN-BUET following the National Action Plan for implementing IRF-FSM. He added ITN-BUET has innovative capacity building/ training modules that can be contextualized and disseminated in the regional ground. Through utilizing the involvement of academia and sector actors, the capacity building initiatives can be decentralized. Dr. Tanveer Ahsan, Director, DevConsultants Limited and TA-Hub, admired the event as it would help the future activity design of TA-Hub. Md. Shafiqul Hassan, Project Director, DPHE, and Co-Chair, CWIS-FSM Support Cell, emphasized the participation of all to implement the recommendation and findings successfully.

The workshop provided a balanced strategy incorporating technical, non-technical and social aspects that may influence the future work plan. The participants expected that the brainstorming sessions’ outcomes will be well organized and incorporated in the activity design of capacity building program of ITN-BUET.

Total 20 participants from CWIS-FSM Support Cell, DPHE, ITN-BUET and TA-Hub attended the daylong workshop. Representatives from the participating organizations presented their core activities and associated capacity building opportunities to foster fruitful discussion.
