As part of Global Capacity Building Program for consulting firms and individuals in six countries, Eawag and ITN-BUET organized a five-daylong training for Bangladeshi trainers on “Inclusive urban sanitation capacity development for consultants”. The ToT was held from 30 June to 04 July 2019 at ITN-BUET. The objective of the workshop was to create a pool of local Master Trainers to train consulting firms and individuals to design and develop inclusive urban sanitation programs in the future.

Eawag/ConCAD, a training center based in Switzerland with expertise on sanitation provided the technical support for organizing the event. This initiative is financially supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to build capacity of local training institutes in six countries (Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Ivory Coast, Uganda and Zambia). Based on the learnings from the ToT which used global contexts, ITN-BUET will contextualize the materials for trainees, and in future, will offer payment based training to local and regional consulting firms and individuals.

Total nine participants attended the training event including faculty members from BUET, KUET, CUET & SUST who has long experience in sanitation sector. Apart from that, another nine engineers from DPHE, LGED, WASA participated in the training as invitee participants for three days. The five-daylong ToT participants received training on core contents of FSM, as well as planning, designing and facilitation of the training. Eawag/ConCAD and ITN-BUET awarded certificates to the trainer at the end of the training program.
