ITN-BUET successfully hosted a dynamic Re-orientation and Planning Session on the Sanitation Knowledge Repository (SaniRepo) On May 3, 2025, reaffirming its commitment to strengthen knowledge sharing and collaboration in the sanitation sector. The event brought together 26 direct collaborators from Government Organizations, Development partners and I/NGOs with the aim of renewing commitment towards SaniRepo and reintroducing it as a central hub for sanitation knowledge in South Asia.
Designed as both a refresher and orientation for new users, the session featured a hands-on segment titled “Unlocking the Power of the SaniRepo Platform”.

The program featured important remarks from Dr. Rowshan Mamtaz, Director of ITN-BUET, and Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Regional Director for South and Southeast Asia at GSGS. Both speakers highlighted the importance of keeping reliable knowledge resources like SaniRepo active and accessible to support inclusive and sustainable sanitation efforts.
As part of its revitalization, two new initiatives were introduced. SaniTalk Cafe, a monthly knowledge-sharing circle focused on Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) practices and innovations and CitySan Connect, a quarterly webinar series aimed at fostering collaboration and cross-learning among sector professionals.
Participants appreciated the new initiatives, while also voicing important feedback around the long-term sustainability of the platform.
The session wrapped up with a forward-looking discussion on integrating SaniRepo into academic curriculam, ensuring that the next generation of WASH professionals are both equipped with and contributors to this growing knowledge ecosystem.
