ITN-BUET, in collaboration with ENPHO, is organizing a two week-long (12 September-23 September 2021) regional virtual training on ‘Winning Bids for City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation: Principles and Application.’ The training aims to enhance the capacity of South Asian sanitation consultants (consulting firms and freelance consultants) to plan, design, and supervise the implementation of citywide inclusive sanitation services.

Through this training, participants will learn about the new sanitation concept CWIS, paradigm shift of sanitation and the main elements of CWIS for sustainable service delivery. They will also learn why planning from evidence is necessary for sanitation project and identify which data is relevant to collect; in this regard, specific methods, tools for data collection will be introduced to the participants. They will be introduced to the wider scope of consultancy on urban sanitation in the country and beyond. Finally, they will prepare a mock bid for a consultancy on urban sanitation.

By the end of this training, it is expected that participants will be able to work or bid for “at-scale sanitation investment projects” anywhere in the world. A total of 28 participants from 3 South Asian countries, including India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, have registered for this course. Participants will have access to the virtual training through the online learning management platform MOODLE and join the live session through Zoom.

On 8 September 2021, participants joined the inaugural session of the training over the Zoom platform with the representatives from the organizers (ITN-BUET & ENPHO), course instructors, and observers. Prof. Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Director, ITN-BUET, welcomed the participants and hoped for active participation in the coming days of the training. Ms. Bhawana Sharma, Director of ENPHO wished for the successful completion of the training in her closing remarks.
