Sanitation Safety Plan-Sakhipur municipality-Tangail
Sakhipur municipality in Tangail district has a population of 30,028 spread across an area of 13.77 sq. km. Despite having a functioning faecal sludge management (FSM) system since 2015, the municipality faces challenges due to population growth and inadequate sanitation. The development of a Sanitation Safety Plan (SSP) aims to improve sanitation facilities, protect public health, and guide investment decisions in Sakhipur municipality.

Co-compost plant at Shakhipur Municipality
Under the small-town program, WaterAid Bangladesh with its partner BASA has been supporting Shakhipur municipality to run a co-compost plant. This plant is designed to utilize the faecal sludge and organic waste into making compost. WaterAid Bangladesh is working with the Municipality and the Department of Agriculture in order to distribute and use these compost as soil conditioner locally.

Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) of Chittagong City Corporation
Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) situation in the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) areas is passing through a conventional and manual process. The CCC has a separate section namely ‘Conservancy Department’ is responsible to provide sludge emptying services to the citizens. Though the conservancy department is providing roadside cleaning services, however there is lack of providing useful faecal sludge services.
