Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shariful Islam, Hon’ble Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUET Inaugurated a four-day long Specialized Training course of ITN-BUET this morning on 27 July 2026 as the Chief Guest.
The International Training Network Centre of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (ITN-BUET) is implementation this training program for WASH professionals on “Planning and Design of Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP)” from 27 to 30 July 2026 at ITN-BUET.
A total of 15 participants from City Corporation, Paurashava, University, WASH Agency, Individual consultant and the Young professional joined this paid training course showing their immense interest in this hands-on technical training for designing FSTPs.
Hon’ble Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUET appreciated this effort of ITN-BUET for capacity building of the professional and hoped that the training would be a greater learning opportunity for participants from the eminent resource persons from BUET and the sector.
Director of ITN-BUET, Professor Dr. Rowshan Mamtaz chaired the inaugural ceremony. She hoped that the training will be both ways of learning and sharing from the participants and resource persons.
This round of training in 2026 is the fourth cohort of training implementation depicting a great demand for this training among the WASH sector professionals said by Mr. Alauddin Ahmed in his remarks as Guest.
Professor. Dr. Tanvir Ahmed as Guest of Honor opined that without fecal sludge treatment, it is impossible to ensure safe sanitation for the country like Bangladesh as expansion of sewerage system is a costlier and time-consuming approach. The participants also expressed their expectations from the training.
Finally, Dr. Mamtaz graced the Chief Guest at ITN-BUET by presenting a crest as a token of appreciation and concluded the inaugural ceremony of the training program.
