Workshop for City Stakeholders and Officials to Advances Solid Waste Management Action Planning in Chapainawabganj

ITN-BUET, in collaboration with SNV Netherlands Development Organization, organized a two-day participatory workshop on SWM Action Planning in Chapainawabganj on 19–20 May 2025. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of Chapainawabganj Municipality to develop an effective SWM strategy aligned with the SWM Rules 2021.

Workshop on SWM Rules 2021 Advances Solid Waste Management Planning in Sylhet

ITN-BUET and SNV Netherlands organized a two-day workshop on 6–7 May 2026 in Sylhet to help Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) improve its waste management system. Around 45 government officials, NGO workers, and local groups joined the event. The workshop ended with a strong commitment to submit the final plan to the Local Government Division for a cleaner Sylhet.

Themed around World Water Day 2026 — “Water and Gender: Where Water Flows, Equality Grows” — the event gathered policymakers, academics, and civil society to address water inequality.

ITN-BUET launched Research on Women’s Empowerment and Urban Sanitation

ITN-BUET launched ITN Research Series 21, assessing urban sanitation and women’s empowerment across Meherpur and Saidpur municipalities. The MUSE study surveyed 1,449 women, evaluating empowerment through Agency, Resources, and Institutional Structures. The report urges policymakers to adopt gender-responsive designs and inclusive governance for equitable, sustainable sanitation systems in Bangladesh.
