The sixth SaniTalk Cafe session, jointly organized by ITN-BUET and the Bangladesh FSM Network, explored municipal sanitation financing gaps in Bangladesh. Participants discussed budget utilization challenges and recommendations for sustainable service delivery.

GSGS Regional Hub South and Southeast Asia, in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), organized a 2-day CWIS Training of Trainers program for faculty from BUET, KUET, SUST, NUST, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, and AIT on 25–26 June 2026 in Thailand.

ITN-BUET, in collaboration with SNV Netherlands Development Organization, organized a two-day participatory workshop on SWM Action Planning in Chapainawabganj on 19–20 May 2025. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of Chapainawabganj Municipality to develop an effective SWM strategy aligned with the SWM Rules 2021.

ITN-BUET and SNV Netherlands organized a two-day workshop on 6–7 May 2026 in Sylhet to help Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) improve its waste management system. Around 45 government officials, NGO workers, and local groups joined the event. The workshop ended with a strong commitment to submit the final plan to the Local Government Division for a cleaner Sylhet.

ITN-BUET, in collaboration with SNV Netherlands Development Organization (SNV), organized a two-day participatory workshop titled “Development of Solid Waste Management Plan for Cumilla City Corporation (CCC)” on 28–29 April 2026 at Buro Bangladesh, Cumilla.

ITN-BUET organized a two-day training on “Design, Construction, and Improvement of Sanitation Containment Systems” on 26–27 April 2026 to strengthen the technical capacity of engineers and WASH professionals.

ITN-BUET, in collaboration with CSIRS-UIU, Civil Engineering Department of UIU, and FANSA-Bangladesh, hosted a national seminar on Water Rights in Bangladesh. Themed around World Water Day 2026 — “Water and Gender: Where Water Flows, Equality Grows” — the event gathered policymakers, academics, and civil society to address water inequality.

ITN-BUET launched ITN Research Series 21, assessing urban sanitation and women’s empowerment across Meherpur and Saidpur municipalities. The MUSE study surveyed 1,449 women, evaluating empowerment through Agency, Resources, and Institutional Structures. The report urges policymakers to adopt gender-responsive designs and inclusive governance for equitable, sustainable sanitation systems in Bangladesh.

ITN-BUET facilitated a five-day training titled “Climate Resilient Water Safety Plan (CR-WSP)” under the Strengthening Institutions for Climate Change Adapted Water Resource Management in Dhaka (SAIDABAD) Project.

IRHES, with support from ITN-BUET, conducted a seminar on resilient sanitation systems at CUET on 13 April 2026. The session focused on STP, FSM, and sustainable drainage in practical contexts.
