ITN-BUET and SNV have published a  Bangla Booklet focusing on laws and policies related to sanitation, Fecal Sludge Management (FSM), Solid Waste Management (SWM), drainage and grey water management. This publication marks a significant milestone in the partnership showcasing shared commitment to sustainable urban sanitation and environmental management practices in Bangladesh.

The booklet launch aligns with the objectives of the Transitioning to Sustainable Urban Water Cycles (SUWC) in Bangladesh project, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This transformative initiative aims to enhance sanitation, solid waste, and drainage systems across 12 cities, including four City Corporations and eight Paurashavas in Bangladesh’s northern, north-eastern, and south-western regions. The SUWC project emphasizes capacity-building for local authorities, city officials, private operators, sanitation workers, and other stakeholders. ITN-BUET played a pivotal role in developing modules and providing trainings under the SUWC project. Key actions in this regard included comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) on Occupational Health and Safety of Sanitation and Waste Workers and training on FSM Business and Marketing.

The booklet is an important landmark of the collaboration, addressing urban sanitation challenges and fostering sustainable solutions. ITN-BUET and SNV will continue to deliver joint outputs to improve sanitation outcomes and contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which ensures clean water and sanitation for all.
