Government’s support and capacity-building are prioritized to achieve the targets of the National Action Plan by the LGI representatives in an online event
The 2nd round of online orientation on the National Action Plan (NAP) for Implementing Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Fecal Sludge Management was held on 9th February 2022. Paurashavas under the ‘Water Supply & Environmental Sanitation including Faecal Sludge Management Project in 32 Paurashava’ were oriented on the roles, responsibilities, activities and milestones mentioned in the NAP for paurashava level. Project Director of 32 Paurashava Project, Engineers of DPHE, Honorable Mayors, Panel Mayors, Councilors, and relevant officials of the Paurashavas attended the event.

On January 15, 2022, orientation was provided online to the Paurashavas under the 23 Paurashava Project of DPHE. Partners meet for scaling CWIS
The International Training Network (ITN-BUET), a Centre of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, launched a new project titled “Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Scaling and Sanitation Innovation” at the event. The project is built on learnings and experiences from the previous partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for national-level capacity-building on fecal sludge management and citywide inclusive sanitation (CWIS).

ITN-BUET Collaborates with UNICEF and UN-Habitat to organize an orientation program on CWIS
More than 100 officials working with UNICEF and UN-Habitat joined in a 2-day workshop on Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) on 2nd and 9th November 2021. The training program was led by ITN-BUET in collaboration with UNICEF and UN-Habitat. Urban sanitation is a vital development agenda, and CWIS is an innovative approach to ensure that everyone in an urban area benefits from sanitation services, and it has all the elements to address the SDG sanitation targets.

DPHE Cox’s Bazar Fecal Sludge Laboratory personnel are now oriented on basic Fecal Sludge characterization
UPM GmBH and its local partner Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) handed over field laboratory facilities used by them to characterize the fecal sludge in Rohingya camps Cox’s Bazar to DPHE following the hands-on training on the operation of the equipment and sampling.
The newly recruited DPHE personnel for the Cox’s Bazar DPHE FSM Laboratory were introduced to fecal sludge testing, parameters, equipment and sampling procedures through a 3-day training at DPHE Sadar Upazila Office, Cox’s Bazar. UPM GmBH and BAU organized this training during 2-5 October 2021 in collaboration with ITN-BUET with the support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) funded project.

Rangpur City Corporation is committed to reduce environmental pollution by implementing the FSM Action Plan
In a workshop organized by the Rangpur City Corporation, in association with ITN-BUET and Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP), the city authorities urged to design and implement sanitation development projects following the FSM action plan to achieve SDG 6.2 by 2030.

Exposure visit on FSM service in Saidpur Paurashava
On 22 September 2021, the ITN-BUET team visited Saidpur Paurashava and met the municipal council to know about their actions regarding FSM in the city, understand the operation and management mechanism of the FSTP and seek possible avenues of learning and collaboration.
