Sakhipur municipality in Tangail district has a population of 30,028 spread across an area of 13.77 sq. km. Despite having a functioning faecal sludge management (FSM) system since 2015, the municipality faces challenges due to population growth and inadequate sanitation. The development of a Sanitation Safety Plan (SSP) aims to improve sanitation facilities, protect public health, and guide investment decisions in Sakhipur municipality.

The ‘National Compendium of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Technologies for Disaster Response’ has been prepared through a consultative process involving organizations belonging to the WASH cluster. Its purpose is to address challenges related to disasters and post-disaster situations. This compilation includes technologies suitable for disaster and post-disaster scenarios, which will be promoted and implemented as appropriate solutions for climate-resilient disaster preparedness.
