Development of National Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Guideline for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Bangladesh
ITN-BUET, supported by UNICEF, is providing technical assistance to formulate the National Operation and Maintenance Strategy/Guideline for WASH infrastructures in Bangladesh.

Citywide Fecal Sludge Management (FSM) Action Plan for Rangpur and Chattogram
WSUP, with ITN-BUET’s technical assistance, is preparing 5-10 year Citywide FSM Action Plans for Rangpur and Chattogram to enhance fecal sludge management and secure implementation funding.

Emergency Multi-Sector Rohingya Crisis Response Project (EMCRP)
The EMCRP of DPHE aims to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene for the DRP population. ITN-BUET is designing and conducting feasibility studies for fecal sludge and solid waste management, including engineering designs and bid document preparation.

Scaling CWIS/FSM in Bangladesh through national level capacity building program
The project aims to scale City Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) and FSM services in Bangladesh through a national capacity-building program, raising awareness among stakeholders, enhancing capacity for planning and implementation, and developing a national platform for ongoing support.

Building Consulting Capacity for City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation (ConCaD)
Through this initiative, both ITN-BUET and private consultants in Bangladesh have been capacitated on CWIS. Eawag developed the ConCaD training module and provided ToT, with ITN-BUET offering fully paid training for local consultants and organizing an international training program with Eawag and ENPHO.

Biofil Toilet Evaluation in Rohingya camp, Cox’s Bazar
ITN-BUET evaluated the performance of 2,176 Biofil toilets installed in Rohingya camps and host communities in Cox’s Bazar, assessing their effectiveness in emergency situations compared to regular pit-toilets.

Dissemination of Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Faecal Sludge Management (IRF-FSM)
The 2017 approval of IRF-FSM assigned sanitation responsibilities to LGIs. ITN-BUET, UNICEF, and PSB organized workshops to familiarize LGI leaders and DPHE officials with the framework, inviting mayors and top officials from various agencies.

Urban Sanitation Capacity Analysis in three Bangladeshi Cities
ITN-BUET, funded by WSUP, assessed the capacity of Rangpur, Chattogram, and Dhaka North City Corporations to provide sanitation/FSM services using the Burke-Litwin Model, conducting KIIs and FGDs with City Corporation leaders and officials.

SanMark-City: Intelligent Design in Urban Sanitation Marketing
The “SanMark-CITY” project explores four toilet technologies using a market-led approach for sustainable sanitation, with ITN-BUET validating the technologies and DPHE offering technical advice.

Training on Facing the Challenges of Climate Change in Water and Sanitation Sector in Bangladesh
DPHE and ITN-BUET organized eight training programs to equip class-1 officers with skills for managing water and sanitation challenges related to climate change. These sessions aimed to enhance disaster management capabilities and ensure effective technological solutions.
